How to Download Instagram Reels in HD — Free & Easy

Instagram only lets you save reels inside the app. This guide shows how to keep a real video file of a public reel on your phone or computer, plus its sound on its own.

Step by step

  1. In Instagram, tap the share (paper plane) icon on the reel and choose Copy link.
  2. Paste the link into the Instagram Downloader and press Get Download.
  3. You'll see the creator's name, the caption and a preview picture.
  4. Tap the Video button to save the MP4, or the Audio button to save only the sound.

Getting only the song or sound

Many reels come with a separate audio track. Use the Audio button to save it as an M4A file, handy for ringtones or editing.

Private accounts

Reels from private accounts can't be fetched. Only public reels and posts work.
